A great French violin bow by Fran\u00e7ois Lotte<\/strong>, ca.1950 – certified by Raffin.
Francois Lotte was one of the great French bow makers of the 20th century, and he made this beautiful violin bow for Lucien Schmitt.<\/p>\n

The round stick is reddish brown (original patina) and is made of first class pernambuco, a strong but flexible bow with a great balance.<\/p>\n

The frog is made of the finest ebony , the button is made of a beautiful nickel silver cap.
This bow is in very good condition, ready to play (no cracks ).<\/p>\n

A good professional bow with strong tone production, plenty of detail..
The total length of the stick is around 73 cm and the weight of the bow is 60gr.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Lotte<\/strong>\u00a0(1889\u20131970) was a French\u00a0archetier<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0bow maker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Son of Georges Lotte who was a\u00a0luthier<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0violin maker<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0Vuillaume<\/a>\u00a0shop.[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0
Fran\u00e7ois Lotte received his training in the best French tradition, initially apprenticed with\u00a0Bazin<\/a>.
In 1919 he married Marguerite Ouchard, daughter of\u00a0\u00c9mile Fran\u00e7ois Ouchard<\/a>\u00a0and sister of\u00a0\u00c9mile Auguste Ouchard<\/a>.
Fran\u00e7ois later went on to work for\u00a0Eug\u00e8ne Cuniot-Hury<\/a>\u00a0(between 1922-1925). By 1926 he set up his own business in Paris.<\/p>\n

His bows are often stamped with the stamp of the shop or maker he was working for or not stamped at all.
His bows are elegant, precise, excellent in workmanship and combine good playing and sound qualities.\u00a0[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0
He left a large number of bows of very good quality.
