A beautiful and super rare French cello bow by Fran\u00e7ois Lotte with Raffin certicate .ca 1947.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Lotte was one of the great French bow makers the 20th century.<\/p>\n

This bow was made for Ren’ Marichal a Alger.<\/p>\n

This cello bow is is silver mounted, with a very fine ivory frog, and one-piece silver button, we have seen only one like this one.<\/p>\n

This cello bow is one of the finest Francois Lotte cello bows we have seen so far.<\/p>\n

The round stick is dark brown and is made of first class pernambuco, a strong but flexible bow with a great balance.<\/p>\n

A very elegant and fine executed head.<\/p>\n

This bow is in a good condition, all parts original, ready to play.<\/p>\n

A good professional bow with strong tone production, plenty of detail..
The total length of the stick is around 69,1 cm and the weight of the bow is circa 82 gr.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Lotte<\/strong>\u00a0(1889\u20131970) was a French\u00a0archetier\u00a0and\u00a0bow maker.<\/div>\n

Son of Georges Lotte who was a\u00a0luthier\u00a0and\u00a0violin maker\u00a0in the\u00a0Vuillaume\u00a0shop.\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois Lotte received his training in the best French tradition, initially apprenticed with\u00a0Bazin. In 1919 he married Marguerite Ouchard, daughter of\u00a0\u00c9mile Fran\u00e7ois Ouchard\u00a0and sister of\u00a0\u00c9mile Auguste Ouchard.
Fran\u00e7ois later went on to work for\u00a0Eug\u00e8ne Cuniot-Hury\u00a0(between 1922-1925).
By 1926 he set up his own business in Paris.<\/p>\n

His bows are often stamped with the stamp of the shop or maker he was working for or not stamped at all. His bows are elegant, precise,
excellent in workmanship and combine good playing and sound qualities.\u00a0
He left a large number of bows of very good quality. Many bows are mounted in silver as well as maillechort\/nickel\u00a0mounted.<\/p>\n

His son\u00a0Roger Fran\u00e7ois Lotte, born 1922, took over the shop around 1960.
